2013/08/27

In pursuit of promoting Chinese Cuisines worldwide and carrying forward the culture exchange and integration, Lee Kum Kee supported the State Council Information Office, People’s Government of Yunnan Province, and the Permanent Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva to organize the “Experience China, Amazing Yunnan” welcome reception at the United Nations Office at Geneva, Switzerland on 27th August 2013. As a leader of authentic Chinese sauces, Lee Kum Kee invited four top-notch Chinese master chefs to present Chinese culinary skills, to showcase once again the culinary art of China on the international platform.

The “Experience China, Amazing Yunnan” welcome reception was held at the assembly hall of the United Nations Office at Geneva. More than 200 guests from United Nations and media attended, including the Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva, Mr. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the Director-General of World Health Organization, Dr. Margaret Chan and Ambassador of the Permanent Mission of the People’s Republic of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland, Mr. Wu Haitao. Ms. Maria Chong, General Manager of Lee Kum Kee (Europe) Limited also attended the event on behalf of the company.

Lee Kum Kee sponsored the four Chinese master chefs to present Chinese cuisines for the guests and to enable them to experience the unique enchantment of Chinese culinary culture. The four master chefs demonstrated their superb skills in dramatically integrating traditional Chinese elements in the preparation of spectacular culinary techniques, namely “sugar crafting” by Chef Chen Wei, blindfold tofu cutting by Chef Hou Xinqing, Chinese painting with Lee Kum Kee sauces by Chef Lu Yongliang, and blindfold hand pulled noodles presented by Chef Qiao Zeng. Their artistic presentation together with a deliciously tasted menu of ten fusion hors d’ oeuvre designed by Chef Calvin Tsoi from Hong Kong and prepared with authentic Chinese sauces from Lee Kum Kee to present the “Taste of China” with the East meeting the West thrilled the guests at the cocktail reception.

In addition, Lee Kum Kee also staged a “Culinary Art of China” exhibition in the hall, introducing the characteristics of the eight great traditions of Chinese cuisine, “The Art of Chinese Taste” - the applications and importance of Chinese sauces and condiments, as well as the “East meets West Evolution” - how fusion cuisine has become an influential element in modern culinary culture. The exhibition provided an interface with guests from the United Nations for an experience with the unique enchantment and impact of Chinese cuisines.
