“2012 The Grand Charity Ceremony” co-organized by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Guangdong Province and Southern Television Guangdong was held at Guangzhou Zhongshan Memorial Hall on 13 November . Lee Kum Kee Group Chairman Mr. Lee Man Tat was awarded the “2012 Southern – Top Ten Chinese Philanthropists” in recognition of his continuous support of charity work in hometown and significant contributions to Guangdong Province.

The ceremony was attended by over 80 guests, including Vice Minister of Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Mr. Ren Qiliang; Vice Governor of Guangdong Province Ms Zhao Yufang, wife of Lee Kum Kee Group Chairman Mrs. Lee Choi May Ling, Chairman and CEO of Lee Kum Kee Sauce Group Mr. Charlie Lee, management staff of Lee Kum Kee Sauce Group and Lee Kum Kee Health Product Group.

Mr. Lee Man Tat is grateful to the People’s Government of Guangdong Province for conferring the honour on him. He feels that the award is not simply recognition of his contributions, but also an endorsement of Lee Kum Kee’s sustained efforts in fulfilling corporate social responsibility. Mr. Lee heartily expressed, “Lee Kum Kee has been upholding the core value of ‘Si Li Ji Ren’ (Considering other’s interests) over a hundred years. As the Group keeps innovating and moves on, it will continue to fulfill its corporate social responsibility and commitment to serve the community, make greater contributions to charity work of hometown and the motherland.”

Since its establishment in 2008, “The Grand Charity Ceremony” has been organized for the fifth year in a row to pay tribute to Chinese philanthropists from Hong Kong, Macau and overseas. All the award winners are nominated by local Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, overseas Chinese organizations, universities and have passed a stringent selection by an adjudication panel formed by the organizers, leaders of relevant government departments and experts.
